Queenswood Galleries and Shoprite Centre, adjacent buildings located on the corner of Soutpansberg Road and Stead Avenue in Queenswood, currently represent a ghost town as the tenants have vacated in order to allow for the redevelopment thereof, into a trendy cosmopolitan type shopping centre, known as Queenswood Quarter. Queenswood Quarter will be located across the road from Queens Corner Shopping Centre.

The date of completion for the development is earmarked to be the end of August 2018. In addition to the retail component, consisting of 35 shops or 6 209m² of gross lettable area which is to be anchored by Checkers, Woolworths Food and Clicks, 2 750m² will be the home of the brand new Queenswood Planet Fitness Club. Part of the development will also accommodate 50 small office or residential apartments.

Queenswood Quarter will surely be of benefit to close by residents from a convenience point of view and could most likely make surrounding properties, commonly occupied by students, first time home buyers and the older generation who have remained in the area for years, more attractive, thereby potentially creating a positive effect on the value of properties in the area.

The established residential suburb of Queenswood which is situated in The Moot, is characterised by full title as well as sectional title residential properties. The area, being central, is positioned just north of Hatfield in close proximity to the University of Pretoria and Francis Baard Street provides easy access to the N1 and N4 Freeways. There are also several primary schools in the area.

The Pretoria Moot area has a strong sense of community with generations returning to live in the unique ‘urban village’ setting. The unique and restful atmosphere and the semi-rural setting of the suburb contribute strongly to its ongoing popularity and good capital growth. A further unique factor is the Academic Hospital which is located 3km away, alluring a number of specialising doctors annually to buy and own property close to the hospital for the period of their specialisation.

The most popular suburbs in The Moot include: Capital Park, Colbyn, Gezina, Kilner Park, Moregloed, Queenswood, Rietfontein, Rietondale, Riviera, Villeria, Waverley and Wonderboom South.
